(Some of the links in this section are external to this site and are provided for your interest.  They will open a new browser window and take you to the website in question)

Many of the entries are described from watching the film or programme on TV or video/DVD.  But other sources include:-
    a) examining screen captures and collages either found on the internet or CD collections (which usually include a caption or have a file name that shows where the images were taken from) or
    b) images printed in the American magazine Celebrity Sleuth (which identifies the source of pictures in the accompanying text).
    c) contributions received via e-mail since the site started.

Various reference books and websites were used to fill in or confirm some extra information.

• The TV Chronicles (website) proved useful in confirming whether the source was a TV programme and that the actress in question was indeed a part of the said production.  It also allowed the year of broadcast and TV channel to be established and find or confirm other productions the actress may be well known for.  The TV Chronicles information is no longer available on-line, but it is now offered for sale on a CD encyclopaedia in a similar format and is available from MemorableTV.  For more information about the CD click here for an information page about it.

• The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) (website) was used to check up on release dates and confirm cast involvement when necessary.

• The Bare Facts Video Guide 1996 (book) was used to help identify the origin of some screen images of films with no source given.  For more recent films the Celebrity Nudity Database (CNDB) (website) was consulted. The book was also used to fill in a few gaps where no screenshot was available (these are identified on the list). This was not possible with CNDB because with that you need to know what you are searching for - it's not really suitable for browsing.

FORMAT OF ENTRIES

The colour-coding and general format of each entry is as follows:-

BRITISH ACTRESS NAME  (something she is well known for)
                        or
OTHER ACTRESS NAME  (something she is well known for)

The colour coding helps quickly tell apart the British actresses from American and others.  British Actress Name is the default where nationality is unknown and also contains actresses that may not have been born in Britain but are generally thought of as British or who work primarily on British TV.   Other Actress Name includes American, Australian and any other nationalities.

• On the main list and others if « is shown as « then it is a new addition since the last time the pages were updated.
• On the main list if « is shown as « then the entry has been modified since the pages were last updated.
• If ??? is shown as the Title of Film then the title is not known although the description is still given.
• If it is a an episodic TV show then [ep: Episode Name] will show the name of the episode or date of transmission if known.
• Additional information may be given in italics if applicable
• If (BF) is shown then the information has come solely from The Bare Facts Video Guide.  There are only a very small number of entries that this applies to.
• If  (credit) is shown then the entry has been contributed fully or partly by the individual shown.  *(See also the note below on "Darkman Data")
• If  ¯ is shown then there is a picture available on a specially selected external site which can be visited by selecting the "Picture Library" link.
• The TV Channels mentioned are BBC, BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4, C5,   Sky1.  (BBC is used if the particular BBC channel is not known).  Also more recently BBC3, BBC4, ITV2 might also be used.
• Additionally usaTV, canTV, ausTV indicates American, Canadian and Australian TV respectively.

*Darkman Data. Thanks to Darkman who has kindly provided details of British television nudity seen over a 10-year period beginning in 1972. This information was contemporaneously compiled as an ongoing list for personal interest. The detail retained is mainly limited to the very basic facts of what degree of nudity could be seen on screen hence the rudimentary descriptions given here.  Such entries are tagged with the credit line "(from information provided by Darkman).". This information was gathered "live" with no VCR facilities around at the time - so if any entry jogs a memory and you can supply further scene details or indeed if you believe a particular identification to be inaccurate then do please let me know at the e-mail address.

Other things to note

• Where there are multiple scenes being described from the same TV show or movie they are separated by a u character.
• The order of the descriptions may not necessarily match the order that the scenes appear in the movie.
• If (AE) appears in a description this means "Another Episode" and is used when several scenes from an ongoing TV series are compiled onto one entry where the actual episode titles are not known.
• Because a lot of the entries on these lists were compiled from screenshots there is no certainty that all topless scenes in any listed movie or TV programme are described if, say, a crucial moment has not been captured (or not seen by me).  
• Conversely single scenes in a movie may be separately described if there are sufficiently different "moments" that have been captured.
• Also remember that what, on screen, could be a very brief moment - is "forever" in a screen capture so there is little or no indication given of how long a topless scene lasts.
• When a description says "topless" it does not necessarily strictly mean "no top on" it means one or both breasts of the actress can be seen and unless the description goes on to say she is covered in some way then it means her nipple(s) are showing.   Also topless might mean "nude" but with no lower nudity showing (for example in a lovemaking scene).
