Topless Review of 2008 (work in progress)

The Topless Review is an attempt to keep a record of all the celebrity uncoverings that occur in Newspapers, Magazines, and on Television in the current year.  Inevitably, there will be some that I've missed.  A lot of it (perhaps 80% of the non-TV entries) relies on what is posted in the binaries newsgroup alt.binaries.tv.shaggable.babes especially from all the various glossies and newspapers.

Symbols Used (entries added since the last update will show the symbol in RED)
J definite topless shots with one or both breasts bare with nipple(s) visible. This includes nipple slips and see-through shots.
L technically topless but covered due to careful or fortuitous posing.

J Denise Van Outen (Michaela) - rear nudity as she walks the red carpet past the paparazzi into an awards ceremony wearing an outrageous frock which does not cover her behind in the hope of making a media impact to stimulate her celebrity career.

The Last Enemy (BBC1 - pt2: 24/02/2008)       (5-part serial)
J Anamaria Marinca (Yasim Anwar) - topless stripping off in the back of a van alongside Stephen Ezard (Benedict Cumberbatch) when David Russell (Robert Carlyle) makes them remove all their clothing to be sure they are not electronically tagged.

J Amelia Bullmore (Emma) - briefly seen topless as she takes off her towel in front of a mirror and rotates around.

Rock Rivals (ITV1 - ep1:05/03/2008)
L Sophia Dawnay (Jinx Jones) - most of her left breast is seen after she gets out of an outdoor swimming pool and stands talking to Sundae (Nicola Hughes) - she has her right arm crossed over and fully covering her left breast with the tips of her fingers just covering the nipple of her right breast - so no nipple nudity quite seen.

Skins (C4 - ep4:06/03/2008; ep6:20/03/2008; ep9:10/04/2008)             (Series 2)
L April Pearson (Michelle) - most of the side of her right breast is seen after she takes off her top and bra while on a bed with her boyfriend Tony (Nicholas Hoult) and leans over towards him in a crawl position to try and seduce him into remembering the relationship they had before he lost his memory in an accident - no nipple nudity quite seen.  (NOTE: In the letterboxed version shown on E4 there is also a moment during the subsequent lovemaking attempt when she is laying atop him and the full side of her right breast is seen with what would seem should be her nipple in view (although it may be possibly by covered with tape) - this is on the far right of the picture and not quite seen in the terrestrial full screen broadcast)
J Sia Berkeley (Scarlett) - topless with her left breast seen as she takes off her robe in uninhibited unison with her father (Tim Wallers) in front of his astonished new wife (Arabella Weir) as they prepare to try out a new hi-tec outdoor hot tub.
Episode 4 also contains a skinny dipping scene in the sea in which Sia Berkeley and Larissa Wilson (Jal) are involved - but it is shot at a distance in virtual silhouette and any nudity there might be is very fleeting and hard to spot.
J (ep6) Janet Montgomery (Beth) - topless as she leans up from laying on her front to kiss Matt (Oliver Mellor) her thanks for painting a tattoo on her back - then briefly topless with her left breast seen while sitting on a couch talking to Tony (Nicholas Hoult) - her hair mostly covers her • topless and rear nudity in a lovemaking scene on a bed with Tony.
L (ep9) Hannah Murray (Cassie) - the back side of her left breast is briefly seen during a lovemaking scene with her boyfriend Sid (Mike Bailey) as she sits astride him - part of a series of carefully edited quickly cut moments - no nipple nudity seen.

Echo Beach (ITV1 - 07/03/2008)       episode 10 of 12
J Hannah Lederer-Alton (Abi Marrack) - topless underneath Jimmy (Ed Speelers) as they make love on the beach - her breasts are seen as the picture is starting to fade/mix into the next shot.

J Anna Maxwell Martin (Debbie) - topless in a bathroom as she sits down against the wall crying over an upsetting development in her life and then speaking to her mother through the door when she calls out a question.

Episode 8 - Lobotomy Bay  (19/04/2008)
J Amelia Curtis (Fae Madison) - topless and full frontal nudity laying dead on a bed.
PROVISO NOTE: In the story she is playing the part of a TV actress who goes out with a man who turns out to be an obsessive fan who proudly shows off his collection of her memorabilia - including, to her horror, a replica of herself that he bought on an auction site which was originally made for use in a detective series morgue scene so that the character she had played in it could be seen dead with a missing right arm.
What is unclear is whether for the sake of expediency the life-like "replica" seen here was actually the real actress playing dead or whether it was actually a specially made replica. Since it was only seen on screen for a few seconds it would seem like a lot of trouble to have gone to for such a minimal usage. The "replica" is seen from three angles and in one angle the missing arm is evident although that aspect would have been easy to fake the way the shot was arranged. Also Amelia Curtis is seen looking at "herself" in the same shot which again might be easier to achieve through camera trickery than to have really created a replica.
In conclusion I can't really tell - the story said it was a replica but that doesn't mean it really had to be. It is worth noting that if it was a replica then it was not just a standard female body with her look-alike head attached - they went to the extent of recreating some exacting detail, in particular the size of her quite large areola area and a mole on the inner side of her right breast (both of which are previously glimpsed in her topless lovemaking scene in the 2001 film "South West 9").
UPDATE ON ABOVE PROVISO - EPISODE 10 DEMONSTRATED AMELIA CURTIS' WILLINGNESS TO DO SOME UNQUESTIONABLY REAL NUDITY SO THE UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE "REPLICA" WOULD SEEM TO BE SETTLED SINCE SHE CLEARLY WOULDN'T HAVE MINDED DOING IT.

Episode 10 - Whose God Is It Anyway?  (03/05/2008)
J Amelia Curtis (Fae Madison) - topless as she falls down onto her back on a bed while acting in a lesbian love scene with another actress (Simona Armstrong) • rear nudity standing in a bedroom wearing a skimpy top as she gets some clothes from a chest of drawers whilst talking to Alice (Tamsin Greig).
J Simona Armstrong (Marenka) - topless as she lays down beside Fae (Amelia Curtis) on a bed while acting in a lesbian love scene.
Episode Notes: Fae has filmed a lesbian love scene for a period drama and she takes her friend Alice to the dubbing studio to wait whilst she re-records her lines with a different actress being used to overdub Marenka's voice. The love scene is seen on screen twice - firstly with the original guide track and then again whilst the actresses are re-voicing the lines. Fae's bottom is also seen in the love scene and part of the joke is that Alice notices that is was a bottom-double (when she sees Fae's bottom for real later on) but Fae had not known about this and gets angry with the producers for thinking that her own bottom was not good enough to be seen on screen.
NOTE: If the IMDB entry for Simona Armstrong is correct then she was also a "Maria" contestant in "How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?" in 2006 (under the name of Simona Dumitrescu-Armstrong)

Criminal Justice (BBC1 - 30/06/2008)       part 1 of  5
J Ruth Negga (Melanie Lloyd) - a brief glimpse of her topless laying on her back dead in bed is seen when Ben (Ben Whishaw) turns on the light and discovers her body • later topless laying dead in bed as a detective (Bill Patterson) examines the murder scene - she has a bloody knife wound between her breasts.

The Tudors (BBC2 - Series 2)        10 episodes

Episode 1 - (01/08/2008)
J Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn) - a brief glimpse of her left breast is seen while she is in bed with Thomas (Jamie Thomas King) - (it turns out to be a fantasy he is having)
J Rebekah Wainwright (Catherine Brock) - rear nudity as she puts on a night-dress in a bedroom before she turns and comes to bed with her husband Charles (Henry Cavill) - nudity seen at a medium distance with her face afterwards in a continuous shot.

Episode 2 - (08/08/2008)
J Krystin Pellerin (Lady Elizabeth Darrell) - topless standing outdoors by a large tree as Thomas Wyatt (Jamie Thomas King) removes her dress and kisses her as he seduces her.
J Natalie Dormer (Anne Boleyn) - topless laying in bed as she welcomes the king (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) into bed with her - and then as they kiss on the bed.

Episode 3 - (15/08/2008)
